Twitter is the ubiquitous 140 character social media powerhouse. How do you get anything across in 140 characters? Very carefully! But just because you cannot say anything you want on Twitter does not mean you should in any way count this out. Twitter is a growing social media platform and most businesses have a presence here.
Tweeting is an art AND a science.
Twitter as Art:
1. You need to craft your tweets very carefully. You are trying to cut down to the chase and leave out all the extras. Rewriting your tweets once or twice is not uncommon.
2. Use visual images
Twitter as Science:
1. The first thing you need to do once you get a Twitter account is “follow” other businesses. They now show up in your Twitter feed. Take some time and do your research to identify who you should be following and engaging.
2. Use hashtags to get your message across and make it so others can find your content. More detail on using hashtags here.
3. Use the “@” symbol to identify someone in your post. Just the same way you will create a Twitter “handle” when you create an account [@socialmarketingalchemy], you should use others’ Twitter handles to connect with them in a Tweet.
Here is an example of how the company Prana is using Instagram & Twitter.
